For a sample of size n from [image omitted] let [image omitted] . Then Pr.{T ≧t} is evaluated for values of t ≧ [(n-1)(n-2)/2]1/2. This has applications to the problem of robustness of tests and also in testing hypothesis for μ=μ0 against μ<μ0, especially in life testing problems. It is shown that an equivalent problem is the evaluation of the probability that a point picked at random inside a regular n-simplex falls within a prescribed distance from the centre of the simplex when points inside the simplex are assumed to be uniformly distributed. |
