The author has computed the exact distribution of the test criterion used in testing that probabilities in on way table are equal. A set of tables is given to facilitate picking out the critical region corresponding to 1%, 5%, and 10% type 1 error. With the aid of graphs, it is shown that the continuity corrections that reduce the value of the computed test criterion are actually making the error in the chi-square approximation worse. |
