Consider two independent random samples from two Poisson populations with parameters λ1 and λ2 respectively, where it is suspected but not known with certainty, that λ1 may be equal to λ2. The objective is to estimate λ1. a new estimator for λ1 is proposed by suggesting a weighted combination of sample means for equal sample sizes case. The Mean Squared Error of this estimator is obtained and it is compared that of x, the mean of the first sample. |
