Simple estimators for the parameters of the extreme-value distribution using linear combinations of the partial means of two or three blocks of the ordered observations are compared. We deal with censored and non-censored samples and demonstrate that the three block estimators improve the efficiencies of the two block estimators mainly for lightly censored samples and attain very high ARE's. |
