Some rhetoric-as-epistemic theorists have argued that truth is created rhetorically and that reality is a function of intersubjective agreement. This essay raises difficulties with notions of subjectivity and objectivity, within the context of an ontology of process, and argues in favor of the common sense view that persons and physical objects are best thought of as independent of and ontologically prior to rhetoric. |
