The present study examines the influence of participation in an Intercultural Communication Workshop (ICW) on cross-cultural attitudes, the formation of cross-cultural friendships, the potential for cross-cultural interaction, and cross-cultural interaction. Data were collected on participants in an ICW and a nonequivalent control group and analyzed via multiple regression. The data supported three hypothesized relationships and failed to support a fourth. The results indicate that, first, participation in an ICW, in conjunction with the cross-cultural attitude, significantly influences the number of cross-cultural friendships formed. Second, the number of cross-cultural friends and the cross-cultural attitude significantly influences the potential for cross-cultural interaction. Third, the cross-cultural interaction potential and the number of cross-cultural friends significantly influence cross-cultural interaction in which participants engage. Finally, the results of this study failed to support the hypothesized relationships between participation in an ICW and changes in cross-cultural attitudes.
