Some Aspects of Aprotic Copper(I)-Dioxygen Systems

Title: Some Aspects of Aprotic Copper(I)-Dioxygen Systems
Author: Vies, Geoffrey Da
El-sayed, Mohamed A.
Appeared in: Comments on inorganic chemistry
Paging: Volume 4 (1985) nr. 3 pages 151-162
Year: 1985-07-01
Contents: There has been considerable progress in understanding the stoichiometry, products and kinetics of aprotic copper(I)-dioxygen reactions, which are an integral part of all copper-catalyzed dioxygen systems. Attention is focused on the effects of ligands on the reaction stoichiometry and on the stability of the products. The great tendency for complete aprotic dioxygen reduction appears to have both kinetic and thermodynamic origins. It is suggested that immobilization of copper(I) sites is necessary to prevent complete aprotic reduction of dioxygen.
