Is Gasification Rate Controlling Step in Polymer Ignition?

Title: Is Gasification Rate Controlling Step in Polymer Ignition?
Author: Kishore, K.
Mohandas, K.
Annakutty, K. S.
Appeared in: Combustion science and technology
Paging: Volume 31 (1983) nr. 3-4 pages 183-194
Year: 1983-03-01
Contents: A kinetic study of the polymer ignition processes has been carried out from the ignition delay measurements at different temperatures. The process was found to have a low activation energy, and from a comparison with the results of the kinetic study of the polymer gasification, it is argued that the rate controlling step could be the gasification of the degradation products. A pyrolysis gas chromatographic study of several polymers support the above conclusion.
