Mathematical description of the distribution of liquid in an absorber packed with orientated helices has been suggested. The balance equations formulated for each helice may be, for sufficiently large cross-section area, “continualized” to give a parabolic-type differential equation. The problem has been solved analytically for the case of a rectangular absorber with an arbitrary initial liquid distribution. Numerical results for several special cases have been calculated. The solution may be used for an evaluation of the inlet liquid distribution. |
