The study of chemical reactor stability started more than two decades ago. A number of results have been reported so far concerning all sorts of reactor forms, each of which has been investigated by various methods of analysis from varieties of aspects. Some results have appeared to suggest most attractive possibilities such as catalyst pellet with effectiveness greater than unity. Many other results which have seemed to lead to a clue to the development of a new operation mode of reactors have been reported. In contrast with the increasing number of reports, there exists a serious self-examination which recognizes that the results which can be effectively applied to design and operation of commercial reactors are quite rare. |
