Nowadays research institutes need an efficient internal information system which also aids management control. Proceeding from CIB studies, the Hungarian Institute for Building Science, ETI, has tackled the problem with a computer-based system. It essentially employs data sheets with keyword indexing from a special thesaurus of some 2 000 descriptors, which can be presented alphabetically, systematically or graphically. The author, who here gives a deliberately simplified account of the system, is an architect who now works in information and research management at ETI, Budapest. |
