The R. and D. section of the Swedish firm of Cementa AB, of Malmo, has made a special investigation of the mechanism of lime efflorescence on concrete. The results indicate that neither the make of cement, nor aggregate content, nor form stripping are significant. But dry air curing can increase the risk while curing in humid air reduces it. This article follows a report to the RILEM/ASTM/CIB symposium in Finland last year. |
