West Germany must learn from long experience

Title: West Germany must learn from long experience
Author: Schulz, R.-R.
Appeared in: Building research & information
Paging: Volume 14 (1986) nr. 3 pages 154-159
Year: 1986-05
Contents: The lessons from the past are perhaps not fully grasped in the present recycling renaissance, the author suggests. An assessment is then given of recent research testing of concretes with recycled gravel and basalt concrete as aggregate. Compared with all-new concrete of similar composition, compressive strengths were 10-25 percent lower, elasticity modulus 15-35 percent lower, and creep 50 percent higher. Dr Schulz worked on the subject at the Technical University of Aachen and is now with the Institute for Construction Material Tests at Waldkirch, Freiburg.
