This article by the associate dean of the Faculty of Technology, Addis Ababa University, emphasises the aggressive climate which materials and components have to endure in the tropics, especially in the hot-humid zones. The author deals with the durability in these conditions of common materials and components, pointing out precautions that are needed if their service life is not to be veiy short. Further studies of the problems and better information exchange between the countries concerned could do much to improve the situation, he concludes. |
