Some Aspects of the Work of Michael Grimmitt

Title: Some Aspects of the Work of Michael Grimmitt
Author: Kalve, Peter
Appeared in: British journal of religious education
Paging: Volume 18 (1996) nr. 3 pages 181-190
Year: 1996
Contents: This paper explores a central aspect of the work of Dr Michael Grimmitt, namely his contribution to the debate about the relationship of religious education to human development. By analysing Grimmitt's attempt to establish a proper role for phenomenology within religious education, this article finds that despite his recognition of the limitations of phenomenology as an approach to education in this field, his basic starting point precludes him from giving proper weight to the concerns of theology, yet at the same time prevents him from recognising the metaphysical foundations of his own position.
