Admissions to Catholic schools: principles and practice

Title: Admissions to Catholic schools: principles and practice
Author: Arthur, James
Appeared in: British journal of religious education
Paging: Volume 17 (1994) nr. 1 pages 35-45
Year: 1994
Contents: The Catholic bishops have articulated considerable support for official Catholic educational principles, but have been weak on practical educational policies which incorporate those principles. School admission policies vary widely from diocese to diocese and are often accompanied with different justifications. Therefore, it may be more appropriate to talk of a degree of disjunction between principle and practice in Catholic education. This article will deal specifically with the admissions to Catholic schools in the context of recent educational legislation in England and Wales, and is illustrated by some recent empirical data.
