In this article the author contends that logically prior to deciding how religious education might contribute to personal, social and moral education is the question of what is to be understood by the term 'personal, social and moral education'. The author tries to shed light on this question by indicating with reference to recent literature the wide variety of enterprises and activities to which this term might be applied and he then suggests a set of criteria for rationally discriminating among these and arriving at a satisfactory conception of personal, social and moral education on the basis of which the religious educationist might proceed. |
