Much of the exploratory stage of many students' vocational development has to take place in higher education institutions which are dysfunctional for effective vocational exploration. It is suggested that the role of careers services in higher education needs to be broadened to include a careers education function. As an example of possible ways of carrying out this function, a description is provided of a five-day course on 'Information on Management' which was ran for 32 Oxford undergraduates in 1972 and made extensive use of simulation techniques. |
