Inhoud: This paper was written in response to the fact that Volume 10, No. 2 of BERJ did not contain a single paper from a teacher currently teaching in a school. There comes a point when you can't just moan about a situation, you have to do something, and this paper is that something. It attempts to describe some of the main reasons for the dominance of 'outsiders' in school-based research and suggests that this is not a good thing. Possible ways of improving the situation are discussed but no offence is meant to any person living, dead or in suspended animation.
