The statistical analysis of the frequency of occurrence of the visible aurora given by Schove (1962) shows significant periodicities of 120 and 200 years at a significance level higher than 99%. Periodicities of 40-50 years appear also in the difference Aobs - Acom (50), where Aobs is the number of aurorae given by Schove for every 10 years and Acom (50) the 50 years-running mean. |
