Molecular basis of the adhesion of Salmonella serotypes to chicken muscle fascia

Title: Molecular basis of the adhesion of Salmonella serotypes to chicken muscle fascia
Author: Sanderson, K.
Thomas, C. J.
McMeekin, T. A.
Appeared in: Biofouling
Paging: Volume 5 (1991) nr. 1-2 pages 89-101
Year: 1991-11
Contents: The adhesion of Salmonella serotypes to chicken muscle fascia was correlated with the ability to be agglutinated by hyaluronan but not by chondroitin sulphate. Agglutination by hyaluronan was not due to simple ionic interaction nor was it inhibited by the sugars tested. Studies with LPS deficient mutants suggested that this component of the bacterial cell wall was not involved in hyaluronan agglutination. Studies using SDS-PAGE showed that several proteins could bind hyaluronan.
