Title: Experimental infections of one-day-old poults with turkey isolates of infectious bursal disease virus
Author: Nusbaum, K. E.
Lukert, P. D.
Fletcher, O. J.
Appeared in: Avian pathology
Paging: Volume 17 (1988) nr. 1 pages 51-62
Year: 1988
Contents: One-day-old poults infected with infectious bursal disease virus of turkey origin (TIBDV) suffered a prolonged (3 to 4 week) suppression of the cellular immune response and a decrease in the plasma cell population of the Harderian gland. By immunofluorescent techniques, IBDV was demonstrated to persist for 7 days post infection. Antigen was demonstrated in bursal epithelium at the apex of the plica and was never seen in the follicle or cortex. Infection with TIBDV generally presented as a silent disease.
