The training of psychologists and its impact on employers

Titel: The training of psychologists and its impact on employers
Auteur: Howe, M. A.
Verschenen in: Australian psychologist
Paginering: Jaargang 7 (1972) nr. 2 pagina's 111-115
Jaar: 1972-07-01
Inhoud: Not since the 1950 debate on the pros and cons of registration have Australian psychologists found an issue to stir them as deeply as the present one of qualifications for membership in the Australian Psychological Society. Interestingly enough, few of today's psychologists would know that registration had ever been an issue and that some of the more eminent members of the profession had long ago argued from conviction that the Society should have no part of it. Registration is now a reality in Victoria and determined moves are being made to introduce it in other States; a turn of events which students of social process might have predicted. It seems that the forces for conservatism, for regulation and conformity roll steadily onwards. Once again we confront them. But are we going to bow; is 1972 going to mark another step towards rigidity (ossification might more aptly describe it) in our institutional thinking and behaviour.
