Based on the existing literature and the shared experiences of a small group of men, this paper describes the threats to the wellbeing of men diagnosed with prostate cancer (PCa), and the challenges which they face in improving their quality of life. Challenges include the uncertainties which surround the outcomes of the various treatments in use, and the men's unawareness of coping options. As psychological interventions have proven helpful with other cancers, psychologists are encouraged to become more involved as practitioners and researchers in this neglected field. |
