Professional profiles of Australian clinical psychologists are not widely available, yet such information would seem to be essential in a climate of increasing professional exposure and responsibility. The results of a survey of Australian clinical psychologists are presented. These data establish patterns of professional qualifications, self-reported professional activities, and theoretical orientations of a sample of members of the Clinical Board of the Australian Psychological Society. The findings indicate changes which have taken place over the past decade, particularly those to do with qualifications for clinical practice. It is suggested that such information may assist in the process of enhancing public and government awareness of the roles which clinical psychologists might play within the Australian health care system. |
