Title: Psychological test usage in Australia
Author: Sharpley, Christopher F.
Pain, Michelle D.
Appeared in: Australian psychologist
Paging: Volume 23 (1988) nr. 3 pages 361-369
Year: 1988-11-01
Contents: Three hundred and eighty-three members of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) responded to a survey regarding testing in their normal practice. Half of the sample indicated that they used psychological tests on a regular basis, and then rated 103 tests taken from the ACER 1983/84 Catalogue according to familiarity, frequency of use, value, and recommendation for inclusion in the fourth year of a professional training course. Summary data are presented for the tests surveyed plus some extra tests mentioned by respondents, and indicate that tests of intelligence and personality were rated most highly on all questions, with the Wechsler tests of intelligence being the most valued and recommended. Recommendations for professional training are discussed.
