This essay describes and critically analyses the standard formulation of the relationship between theory and practice in psychology. Alternate views about the nature of theory and practice which draw attention to their interpenetration and similarities are canvassed. Foucault's concept of power-knowledge is introduced as a means of illuminating important aspects of the relationship between theory and practice in psychology. |
