The Piers-Harris Self Concept Scale was administered to 100 children (50 boys and 50 girls) in each of the age groups between 8 to 15 years inclusive (N = 800 children). Data were analysed by principal components and iterative factor analysis. The results suggested that of the two analytic procedures the iterative procedure presented a comparatively clearer factor structure. It was concluded that the factors that seem to hold the most promise as diagnostic tools for clinical and counselling settings are: behaviour; intellectual and school status; physical appearance and attributes; anxiety; and, popularity. |
