Contents: Two treatment programs, one based on a general discussion type model and mother based on a direct instruction model were compared using a sample of 69 Catholic working class children in Tasmania. A two treatment and post control group design was used. The major datum included children's pre and post responses to hypothetical and a real life temptation to steal situation. Significant differences in hypothetical measures in favour of the direct training model were found. This did not hold for the one real life temptation situation. A group defined as categorical resisters on hypothetical measures was found to predict with 100 per cent accuracy performance in the real life temptation to steal situation. A further evaluation of the efficacy of the direct training model as compared with the indirect model was suggested.
