Titel: Some characteristics of adolescents who present significant management problems in residential psychiatric treatment
Auteur: Plapp, Jon M.
Verschenen in: Australian psychologist
Paginering: Jaargang 18 (1983) nr. 1 pagina's 107-115
Jaar: 1983-03-01
Inhoud: Over a two-year period data were collected from a group of adolescents (12-17 years of age) who had been admitted to a residential psychiatric setting and who demonstrated significant management problems within the residential milieu. These problems were of sufficient magnitude, in each case, to lead to the adolescent's discharge from residential treatment. A comparison was made between characteristics of this problem group and the remaining group of adolescent residential patients, who were being treated in the unit concurrently, but who did not present management difficulties. It was found that the management problem patients were more frequently males who were more likely to have diagnoses of conduct disturbance and who were rated by their teachers and nurses as more Overreactive and less Under-reactive than the non-management problem patients.
