During the last decade, neuropsychology has emerged as one of the fastest growing disciplines within clinical psychology. Amongst the many roles that have emerged for neuropsychologists is that of an expert witness in the medicolegal setting. Unfortunately, the available texts on neuropsychology do not adequately deal with this important role. The aim of this paper is to introduce the basic concepts inherent in medicolegal assessment and report writing. Consideration is given to the following issues: typical medicolegal questions, medicolegal report writing, medicolegal aspects of head injury, post-traumatic syndrome and malingering. |
