This experiment aims to check the hypothesis that anxiety and stress are distinct state patterns, and to contribute to the separate measurement of anxiety as a state and as a trait. An R-and a dR-technique factor analysis of thirty-eight variables-chosen to mark, especially, anxiety, stress, and fear-was made on sixty-three “normal” students, with a month lapse. Six factors matched well across the simple structure R- and dR- resolutions: anxiety (U.I. 24), exvia-invia (U.I. 32), stress (P.U.I. 4), arousal-torpor (P.U.I. 1), overwroughtness (U.I. 23), and fatigue (P.U.I. 3); while fear response matched moderately. The main hypothesis is supported, but some provocative findings appear regarding the patterns of other states, and the distinction of anxiety as state and trait.
