3 groups of 6 rats were trained to run an alley with food reinforcement. On each entry into the goal box Ss in Group A and Group C were given a 3·2-in. and ·8-in. bolus of wet mash respectively; Ss in Group B were given ·5-in. on entry and the remaining 2·7-in. was squeezed into the food dish as they ate. Groups A and B were superior in asymptotic performance to Group C but did not differ from each other. It was concluded that variation in the amount of food available on entry into the goal box did not affect performance. |
