The McClelland need achievement (n Ach) test, a test anxiety scale and an intelligence test were administered to a group of 59 eleven year old school children. Significant positive correlations were found between the n Ach scores and teachers'ratings of n Ach. Of McClelland's four stimulus pictures, the two with the smallest number of achievement cues gave scores positively correlated with examination performance, whereas the scores from the other two pictures did not. Intelligence was found to be positively related to all n Ach scores. It is suggested that pictures of different achievement cue value may measure different attributes. |
