A child guidance clinic in a university setting

Titel: A child guidance clinic in a university setting
Auteur: Connor, D. V.
Verschenen in: Australian journal of psychology
Paginering: Jaargang 11 (1959) nr. 2 pagina's 202-208
Jaar: 1959-12-01
Inhoud: With the growing interest in the applications of psychology to professional practice there has been an increasing tendency in New Zealand for the educationist to seek the help of the psychologist in a wide variety of educational problems. This help has been given mainly by the setting up of clinics in the education and psychology departments of the Universities, and by various government departments, and by the provision of staff ancillary to these clinics. The result has been the growth of a system of psychological services intended to assist the teacher and others both in difficulties that arise in the classroom and in making the change from primary to post-primary school and later to work. Not the least active in the evolution of these services have been the universities in the principal cities in New Zealand as is seen in the reviews of the development of psychology in New Zealand up to 1953 by Sir Thomas Hunter (2) and Professor Winterbourn (5).
