Title: The impact of international trade on the 'in-house' transaction sector: evidence from the United States, 1985-89
Author: Engelbrecht, Hans-Jurgen
Appeared in: Applied economics letters
Paging: Volume 2 (1995) nr. 3 pages 60-63
Year: 1995-03-01
Contents: This study investigates the impact of international trade on the 'in-house' transaction sector of US manufacturing industries over the period 1985-89. Higher import (export) intensity is found to have a strongly (weakly) negative effect on the relative size of the sector. The need for organizational restructuring seems especially urgent for 'high-tech' industries, which tend to have relatively large private bureaucracies.
