  More elementary sturm theory

Title: More elementary sturm theory
Author: Leighton, Walter
Appeared in: Applicable analysis
Paging: Volume 3 (1973) nr. 2 pages 187-203
Year: 1973
Contents: This paper generalizes and extends the study in [3]. It also introduces new types of “stumian” theorems. Some typical consequences are: 1) a nonnull solution y(x) of the system [image omitted]  has a zero on the (open) interval (o, φ) for every ε≠, ∣ε∣<1; 2) if p(x) is positive, increasing, and x=0 is largest focal point >σ of the line x=σ with respect to the functional [image omitted] , the focal point of the y-axis, if it exists, is <σ.
