A new method was developed for the elemental analysis of plant material consisting in a partial wet ashing of the samples with concentrated sulphuric acid. The carbonaceous material so obtained was diluted with deionized water and directly aspirated as a slurry into a flame of an atomic absorption spectrophotometer. Results are reported on the determination of calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, manganese, zinc and copper content in plant material Orchard Leaves (SRM 1571) of the National Bureau of Standard. |
