The article attempts to formulate a common base for the meaning of folklore. As a language of feeling, folklore expresses something essential in human mentality. It provides channels through which to express feelings and attitudes. Through shared patterns of folklore we communicate who we are without being individual artists but still transcending the banality of everyday discourse. |
