The objective of this study was to determine adaptation capability and cold resistance ability of wheat genotypes. Eight wheat genotypes, Kirik, Tir, Doğu'88, Gerek'79, Hawk, Karasu'90, Lancer, Palandoken'97 were used. Results showed that significant differences occurred among genotypes. The highest yield, leaf area, green area photosynthetic efficiency, leaf area index and protein contents were determined in the Doğu'88 genotype. Doğu'88, Gerek'79, Hawk, Karasu'90, Lancer, Palandoken'97, and Tir were determined as very hard genotypes and only Kirik genotype was determined as a moderately hard genotype. Winter-habit wheat genotypes were obviously superior to alternative-habit wheat genotypes in yield, yield components and cold tolerance. Traits such as high yield, leaf area photosynthetic efficiency and cold resistance, provide opportunities to determine and select high yielding and winter-habit wheat genotypes for use in breeding programmes.
