Title: Studies on Apple Bruising: II. The Effects of Fruit Characteristics, Harvest Date and Precooling on Bruise Susceptibility of Three Apple Cultivars
Author: Ericsson, N. -A.

Appeared in: Acta agriculturae Scandinavica. Section B, Soil and plant science
Paging: Volume 46 (1996) nr. 4 pages 214-217
Year: 1996-12-01
Contents: The effect of harvest dates, precooling and fruit characteristics on the bruise occurrence in three apple cultivars (Aroma, Cox's Orange Pippin, Ingrid Marie) have been studied. Bruise weight percentage (BWP) increased by delayed harvest in Aroma and Ingrid Marie but did not affect fruits of Cox's Orange Pippin. Fruits of the bruising sensitive cultivars, Aroma and Ingrid Marie, responded positively to precooling, whereas Cox's Orange Pippin did not. No relationships were noted between storage conditions, fruit firmness, colour and bruise. Large fruits bruised more than small fruits
