During 1990-91, an experiment was conducted at Cardiff Business School into effectiveness of using spreadsheets to teach financial accounting. A particular research method was selected in the expectation that it would be appropriate and unbaised. This paper concentrates solely on the research design implications from both research and pedagogic points of veiw. The results provided an insight for researchers into the appropriate positioning in a course of teaching methods under test; They gave some useful insights into student fixations towards the use of computers in their learning process,as well as their ability (or lack of) to adapt to different tution methods. The impact of the method was tested separetely from the tests into the effectiveness of using spreadsheets to teach financial accounting. The result quoted here have ramification for all educational researchers trying to evluate their 'new' or 'different' teaching methods. |
