Rodingite (gametised gabbro) with associated hydrous lime silicates (vesu-vianite, prehnite, zoisite, etc.). occurring in the ultrabasic-basic igneous complex of the Anderson's Creek district, west of Beaconsfield, Northern Tasmania, has been developed from hornblende gabbro by a process of lime metasomatism which antedated the intrusion of serpentinite. Xenoliths, rafts and/or roof pendants of rodingite, hornblende gabbro, pyroxenites and metamorphosed older sediments, occur in the serpentinite which is cut by later veins of gamierite, chrysotile, opaline silica, and fibrous and granular magnetite.
