  Lachlan Orogen subduction-accretion systematics revisited

Title: Lachlan Orogen subduction-accretion systematics revisited
Author: Spaggiari, C. V.
Gray, D. R.
Foster, D. A.
Appeared in: Australian journal of earth sciences
Paging: Volume 51 (2004) nr. 4 pages 549-553
Year: 2004-08
Contents: Geological and Ar-;Ar data provide a link between the formation of melange, now preserved in the Howqua River region (Governor Fault Zone, central Lachlan Orogen), and ca 450-420 Ma east-directed subduction that contributed to formation of the Tabberabbera Zone. These data support a previously presented model comprising three accretionary subduction zones to explain closure of a marginal ocean basin. An additional, west-dipping subduction zone at ca 470 Ma has recently been suggested for the central and western Lachlan Orogen boundary, but is not required to explain the field relationships and chronology.
