Dome and basin structures are defined by the outcrop patterns of stratigraphic sub-units of the Palaeoproterozoic Willyama Supergroup within the Broken Hill Block in far western New South Wales. These structures probably reflect the refolding of the granulite-grade metamorphic rocks and Olarian-aged folds along north-northwest-south-southeast axes in sympathy with the overlying Adelaidean sediments during the Delamerian Orogeny. The Broken Hill orebodies and associated Olarian folds were refolded by this event. Delamerian and reactivated Olarian shear zones have influenced the orientation of refolding. |
