Small lenses of calc-silicate rock occur widely throughout the quartz-rich turbidite succession of the Lachlan Fold Belt of southeastern Australia, mainly within contact aureoles and regionally metamorphosed rocks of medium to high grade. Metamorphic assemblages are typically quartz-plagioclase-clinozoisite-titanite ± garnet at medium grade and quartz-anorthite-clinopyroxene-titanite ± garnet at high grade. Low-grade equivalents include calcite-bearing slate and calcite-rich psammite. The lenses are elongate parallel to bedding and probably formed as calcareous concretions. |
