Inhoud: The past few years have seen many changes in the care of people living with HIV/AIDS, mainly due to the introduction of combination treatments in mid 1996. This paper discusses findings from research undertaken at Royal North Shore Hospital with HIV service providers and clients to explore the impact of these changes. Analysis highlights themes of compliance and choice, changing models of care, reinvention of life, and hope. This research suggests that it is important to discuss and explore issues for People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in a changing treatment environment. It also highlights the necessity for exploration of issues for service providers and the impact this has on interactions with clients. Findings also suggest the need for further innovative research in this new and challenging area.
