Health care services in Australia face constant structural and organisational change which may bring amalgamation or actual relocation. This article explores the emotional impact on the author of the relocation of one inner-city hospital, and links this felt experience to the rite of passage concept familiar to anthropologists. This article celebrates the unique contribution of social work values in this process, and aims to suggest a useful framework for other workers facing similar relocation. |
