This article discusses how significant contact is possible between Vietnamese refugee clients and non-Vietnamese counsellors. Three major steps in the development of rapport and trust in the counselling relationship are outlined and points of entry at each step are shown. These steps are (i) the self-presentation of the counsellor, (ii) ways of approaching a problem, and (iii) working throughit. |
