This article explores the literature concerning the psychosocial needs of young adults diagnosed with cancer. Issues manifest in a study conducted in 1991, and currently being extended, are discussed. It is asserted that this client group has special needs which have not been recognised by service-providing agencies. Some suggestions are given as to how their psychosocial needs could be met, especially in relation to peer group support. |
